Hi all
Good to be on the forum after all this time, but don't want to discuss on Fb !!
Well we have ben offered 6 hours a month respite. With all the stuff that goes with that ie employing someone, accident books, insurance, first aid kits, supplying gloves for changing etc etc it seems a lot of hassle for 6 hours.
Anyway, when we were given the hours I was sure we would find someone at Hannah's school as a lot of the Teaching Assistants are carers for pupils. BUT to no avail Ive had posters up in the staff room, word of mouth etc but nothing, not one squeak. I've also asked around if anyone's carers want to make up their hours but not a word ................ so we are left with one route - a total stranger.
Now, I will hold my hands up and say I am not feeling comfortable with this. It takes me months to trust new teachers at school and I work there, so I really can't see myself leaving Hannah with a stranger for 3 hours at a time.
Hannah is only 7 and to be honest, I don't like leaving her with anyone at the moment, obviously as time goes on and she gets bigger that will probably change but for now I am not sure
AAAaaahhhhhhhhhhh what to do. We are interviewing a lady from the social services register on Monday but my heart really isn't in it cause I wanted someone we knew or at least someone a friend new
Just off loading really

| I know what you mean, we have a lady come to the house and she is ok but it took us a while to trust her enough to leave the house but it is not ideal. She came to us through social services and reach out service, not sure if you have that in your area. I much prefer the idea of taking Abi to a playscheme type place than to leave her with one person, but they are only available in school holidays and are probably going to be reduced due to council budget cuts. It is a big ask to trust a stranger no matter how screened they are with your vulnerable little child. Hope you find someone suitable. |
