Hello my name is Michael and I am the Step Dad of Danielle, a 22 year old woman with Angelman syndrome. I am active duty military stationed in Colorado for the forseeable future. We came from Minnesota, where we spent the last 13 years or so navigating the complex social services system to get the help we needed with Danielle.

We are having zero luck in Colorado getting anything at all. I am currently deployed and my wife is spending 24/7 with Danielle. We love our daughter immensly but it is taking it's toll. Danielle is incredibly destructive and energetic and you have to be in the same room with her at all times.

If anyone could point us to any sort of resource it would be greatly appreciated. We have tried social services and were stone walled. The Army tried to help but since it's a mental and not physical disability we don't qualify for assistance through them. I don't make enough to pay out of pocket for a day program or PCA, either of which we could REALLY use.

My email address is Mikecouil@aol.com Any help is greatly appreciated.
